MIP (Main Income Person)

MIP stands for Main Income Person and refers to the person in the household who contributes the most to the household income. Until the end of 2023, the Main Income Person was referred to as the Main Income Recipient (MIR). Since 2024, in line with the terminology change in official statistics, this person is referred to as the Main Income Person (MIP). The characteristics of the HEP play a significant role, among other things, in the recruitment of panel households.
