IPTV (Internet Protocol Television)
IPTV is an abbreviation for Internet Protocol Television and describes the digital transmission of television programmes and films via the closed broadband network of an IPTV provider. This guarantees the availability of the content.
In contrast to the traditional transmission paths, a tuner is no longer required for the reception of IPTV-based programmes, since IPTV, technically speaking, involves the streaming of video files. For the conversion of these files for display on a conventional television set, a special receiver (set-top box) or a stick must be interposed by the IPTV provider.
